Houston’s light rail, the backbone for other passenger rail connections in the future, is literally on the fast track in order to be in place by Jan. 1, 2004 — just in time for the Super Bowl. The original schedule called for an opening in October 2004.

Capital Metro explains Needs around UT-Austin

Because of increased traffic congestion and a projected population increase of 2 million people in Austin in the next 30 years, a combination rail and bus system is necessary, said Emlea Chanslor, a Capital Metro spokesperson. Signficant changes will be made to the area around the University of Texas.

Lubbock’s Citibus trying to adjust to New Environment
