3 Million Miles for VIA Driver

Jesse Quintero, bus operator for VIA Metropolitan Transit, has driven over three million miles, and he’s done it without having a preventable accident. He is one of only six bus drivers in the nation to pass the three million mile mark in the past five years.

Texas Transit Association Awards

El Paso, Texas, May 16, 2004 - The Texas Transit Association recognizes the excellence in the public transportation industry. Awards were presented to the Outstanding Metro, Urban and Rural Transit Systems, the Outstanding Pubic Transportation Manager and Public Transportation Coordinator at the awards ceramony at the 2004 Texas Transit Conferecne in El Paso, Texas.

Along with these awards the Texas Department of Transportation presented their annual Friend of Texas Award.

The awards recognize innovation, as well as outstanding achievement by transit systems and individuals who have taken a leadership role in improving public transportation in the State of Texas.

Texas Transit Association Announces Roadeo Winners

El Paso, Texas, May 15, 2004 - The Texas Transit Roadeo was held in conjunction with the 2004 Texas Transit Conference. The competition consisted of a 40ft and Paratransit Roadeo. The winners were announced at a ceremony that evening. This competition recognizes the men and women who keep Texas bus systems safe and the wheels turning. The awards are given to the highest score of all the drivers who were entered in this year’s competition.
