Texas Transit Association

This year Texas Transit Association’s awards focused on the extraordinary and heroic acts of our transit members in the wake of Hurricane Ike in September 2008.

In recognition of their outstanding service during this difficult time are:

Outstanding Metropolitan Transit System—Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County;

Outstanding Small Urban Transit System—Galveston Island Transit;

and Outstanding Rural Transit System—The Gulf Coast Center, all of whom gave unselfishly of their time and resources to rescue and relocate victims of the hurricane.

Outstanding PTC—Armida Sagaribay, TxDOT, El Paso District

Outstanding Staff Member— Joe Morris, Chief of Staff, Senator Wentworth

Outstanding Associate Member—Lionel Young, Q’Straint 

Lifetime Service Award—John Milam, former CEO of VIA

We were privileged to have Texas Transportation Commission Chair Deirdre Delisi as our guest speaker, and former Chair, Hope Andrade, who was this year’s recipient of TxDOT’s Friend of Texas Transit Award.
