Congressman to dedicate new Cab Car for Trinity Railway Express
Texas US Congressman Martin Frost will dedicate the Trinity Railway Express’ latest commuter rail car on Tuesday, September 2, 10:00 a.m. on the T&P station boarding platform (south of the T&P) in downtown Fort Worth. TRE is the highly popular Trinity Railway Express commuter rail line that runs between Fort Worth and Dallas.
TRE is in the process of adding three new cab
cars to the fleet. The cab car is a unique railcar, located on the
opposite end of the train from the locomotive. The cab car has a
control stand where the operator is able to control the train from a
location other than in the locomotive. The car is manufactured by
Bombardier and brings the total number of cab cars to 7 in the TRE
fleet. The TRE is jointly owned and operated by the T and DART.
The dedication will coincide with the daylong display of the Colorado
Railcar; a self-propelled passenger railcar that will be available for
viewing from 9 am to 3 pm. Sponsored by the T, the North Central Texas
Council of Governments, and DART, the Colorado Railcar is considered to
be “the future of rail technology” because of its capability to pull
additional coaches without a locomotive. It is fuel and maintenance
efficient, and the car is considered neighborhood friendly due to its
clean and quiet technology. For more information on the Colorado
Railcar, visit *www.nctcog.org/trans/public_involvement*.
For parking at the T&P station, enter the park and ride lot under I-30
from Vickery between Main and Jennings and take the pedestrian tunnel to
the stairs/elevator to reach the station-boarding platform. For more
