The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is considering changes to the current funding formula for 5311 federal funding and state funding for 5307 and 5311 transit operators.

Rule Changes to Chapter 31 of the Texas Administrative Code (TAC) that describe the funding formula are being discussed at the Public Transportation Advisory Committee (PTAC) meetings on March 9, 2006 and on March 17, 2006. Both PTAC meetings are held at the TxDOT building at 200 Riverside in Austin. Meetings begin at 9:30 and transit operators are welcome to speak at any PTAC meeting.

The funding formula rule changes are tentatively scheduled for proposed adoption at the March 30, 2006 Texas Transportation Commission Meeting. If the proposed rules are approved by the Commission, a public comment period will be held before final adoption of the rules by the Commission. Transit operators are welcome to comment at the March 30 Commission meeting which will be held at TxDOT, 125 E. 11^th Street in Austin. The meeting begins at 9:00 am.
