Trinity Railway Express sets Record

March 23, 2004 in Business News

The Trinity Railway Express (TRE) commuter rail service set ridership
records last week. The week total of 58,074 passenger boardings was a
record and included a record weekday high of 11,206 on Friday, March 19.
The previous weekday high of 10,823 was set on March 13, 2003. The
58,074 boardings compares to 55,201 during the same week a year ago, a
5% increase.

” New riders are being drawn to the Trinity Railway Express because of
the comfort and speed it offers traveling to and from the Fort Worth and
Dallas areas,” said Pete Sklannik, Jr. the TRE’s Chief Operating
Officer. “We attribute last week’s strong ridership to great weather
during spring break. In addition to our regular commuter passengers, we
saw many families with children and also had good ridership for the
Stars and Mavs Game trains.”
