US House Approves Transit Flexibility Act
The House on Monday voted 350-0 for legislation to help 52 growing communities cope with the financial transition to big city status.
The Federal Transit Formula Grants Flexibility Retention Act, H.R. 5157, now goes to the Senate.
It allows bus lines and other transit systems in urban areas where the population exceeded 200,000 for the first time in the 2000 census to retain flexibility in their use of federal transit money during the budget year that begins Oct. 1.
