BALCONES HEIGHTS, Texas — VIA Metropolitan Transit is making sure students at Arnold Elementary who live in Balcones Heights have a safer way of getting to school.

Parents had complained that students living in a number of apartments, including the El Marco Apartments on Fredericksberg Road, did not have bus service.

The Balcones Heights City Council made a deal with VIA during their recent round of negotiations. They agreed to let them stop there but in return, VIA had to give them a route for the kids.

“The kids can just go over to El Marco, get on the bus, and when school gets out in the afternoon, they can get back on the bus and the safety issue is solved,” said Steve Walker of Balcones Heights City Council.
